We all know how a certain atmosphere can affect our mood. Making your home a more pleasant and comfortable environment is a very easy task. You will be surprised how something so simple can calm you down or boost your concentration or creativity. Incense sticks are very popular and don’t require any effort on your part. All you need to do is find out which scent to use on what occasion (see the incense table of properties). For those who don’t like the strong smell of incense sticks we recommend burning essential oils. Incense sticks and essential oils can cause headaches or breathing problems. The absolutely harmless alternative is potpourri.

The following lists will help you to compose a potpourri according to your wishes and needs. If you don’t find the time for collecting and drying herbs and flowers, just go shopping! GEMSTONES

Another easy way to affect the atmosphere and the energy of a room is by using gemstones. A gemstone placed in a room can absorb the negative energy, transform it and release positive energy back into the room.

Never forget, gemstones must be cleaned on regular basis! An easy way is to take a glass bowl, fill it with water place the gemstone into it and put it out under the full moon during the night. Some gemstones (desert rose for example) are never put into water. They are rather put under the sun. Sometimes it is enough to put the gem under the running water for a few minutes. Another neat way to fill the room with the gems energy and vibrations is to put the gemstone in a crystal bowl filled with water. Take a few minutes of your time, relax and visualize how the gem in your hands is charged with energy. Then put the gem into water and visualize how the gemstone fills the water with its energy. Leave the bowl in a room and it will fill that room with its energy.

In general, gemstones make nice gifts. They are often used in jewellery. Carrying a gemstone can boost our energy or help us with unsolved problems. For details, see the list of gemstones .

LUCKY CHARMS

First think of what you want or what problems in your life need to be solved. If you feel the need for protection, balance or wealth, find the herbs that you feel will serve the purpose best. For example you can make a charm bag for goodnight sleep and keep it under your pillow. You will find a list of some herbs and their properties below.

When your mind is set on what you want find the needed herbs and essential oils (use dry herbs if only possible). You can also find a gemstone that fits your purpose and add it to your charm bag.

Sit down and relax, maybe meditate a little. Then take each herb in your hand one by one, and concentrate on its properties while you energize it. Put the herbs (and the gemstone if you decided to use one) into the charm bag. Add a few drops of essential oil if you choose to use one. Then close the bag and visualize how it feels with energy, keep the purpose of the charm bag in your mind as you do so.

When you feel like the charm bag served its purpose and is no longer needed, throwing its contents into a river or a creek would be a good thing to do. If you used a gemstone and don’t wish to throw it away, be sure that you clean it properly.

When selecting the herbs for your charm bag, make sure that you do not pick something that is contradictory, for example two herbs with contrary properties. You do not want these energies fighting one another!

Also, never exaggerate! Using more then five herbs for the same charm bag is not recommended (you will find that 3 or 4 is more then enough in most cases).

Make sure that your selection is well balanced (for example try to cover all four elements, or perhaps 2 elements, depending on what you need, or perhaps select herbs based on their associations with planets).
